The excursion began in the volcanic area of Cañamares (next to Atienza), which was formed in the Permian period and where we were able to observe andesitic volcanic rocks.
The excursion will depart from the Alovera Cultural Center, and the tour will cover some of the areas of greatest geological interest in Guadalajara.
This outdoor activity is a continuation of the talk previously given by Professor Manuel Pozo Rodríguez. Details of the excursion can be found in the attached PDF.
The excursion began in the volcanic area of Cañamares (next to Atienza), which was formed in the Permian period and where we were able to observe andesitic volcanic rocks.
We continued towards the salt flats of Imón, where we observed the formation of halite through the evaporation of the waters of the Salado River.
We then proceeded to Riba de Santiuste, home to one of the world's most renowned geological treasures. There, we were able to observe the sedimentary
structures formed during the paleoenvironmental and paleogeographic reconstruction of the transition from the continent to the sea during the Triassic period.
After a lunch stop in Sigüenza, we continued to Pelegrina, where we could observe the effects of the Alpine orogeny and the formation of folds and faults from the Félix Rodríguez
de la Fuente viewpoint. From there, we proceeded to the Torresaviñán area, where we found Rinconelas, ammonites, and other fossils from the Jurassic period.
