This talk will be given by Coctors Juan Luis Aragonés Gómez y Laura Rodríguez Arriaga,
both from Instituto de Física de la Materia Condensada, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Have you ever wondered why water is wet or oil slips? Do you know why we can divide liquids into drops? What
if I told you that some drops can also imitate the behavior of the cells that make up your body? By understanding
the peculiarities of the fluids that surround us, we can develop intelligent fluids that function as delicately
as our cells, organs and bodies, helping us to take care of them.
In this talk-workshop we will address concepts such as density, viscosity, interfacial tension, elasticity and
activity through macroscopic experiments with everyday elements and how these concepts are transferred to
the microscopic scale, with droplets the size of a hair or less.
