This talk will be given by Doctors Mila Castellanos y Rebeca Bocanegra, both from the Nanobiotechnology Group of IMDEA nanociencia.
Have you heard that viruses, despite being the cause of certain diseases, are playing an increasingly important
role in scientific progress? These organisms have the ability to perform extremely complex functions with very
simple elements and adapt to a wide range of conditions.
Their study is allowing us to learn how to take advantage of these functions to our advantage. You are surely
aware that viruses are crucial in the production of vaccines, but did you know that they are also used in gene
therapy to treat diseases, as well as having applications in industry and biotechnology? It is surprising how
viruses are evolving from being considered enemies to becoming valuable allies in the search for innovative
solutions in various aspects of our lives.
In this talk, doctors Mila and Rebeca will bring us closer, in a very graphic and accessible way, to the fascinating world of viruses and nanobiotechnology research, which will allow us to add a touch of cutting-edge knowledge to all audiences, and in particular it can be an important turning point for all high school students who are currently deciding what studies to pursue in the future. Don't miss it.
