This talk will be given by Doctor José Luis F. Cuñado (IMDEA nanociencia, Nanomagnetism Group). Experiments will be done by him and Doctor Pablo Molina (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid - Dpt. Física de Materiales).

In this workshop we will do experiments that will help us better understand the fascinating world of magnetism. If you missed the talk “Magnetize Yourself!!!”, you can now reconnect in a fun and enjoyable way, but with less talk and more “hands on”. We will continue with the challenge of bringing science closer to you, and we will tell you how scientific knowledge of magnetism is transferred to the most cutting-edge technology, some of which is still in development. This talk-workshop will give a quick overview of magnetism concepts, before we focus on performing experiments. Not only will we perform simple experiments: we have also brought with us a vector Kerr magnetometer, just like the ones we use in real research on magnetic systems at the nanoscale. You'll have a realistic idea of how we investigate in our labs.
