Talk given by Doctor Marta Quintanilla Morales (Doctor in Physics, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid)
During the talk, Doctor Marta Quintanilla explains the relevance that nanotechnology is acquiring in therapeutics, going from the dreams presented
in old science fictions movies to current developments that are bringing those dreams into reality. The so called nanobots are based in three principles:
transportation, sensing and actuators. Three concepts implemented at the nanoscale to reach the smallest corners of the cell. Below you can see some moments of the talk.
Part of the session was devoted to make astonishing experiments with nanoparticles, in which we could witness phenomena such as color changes due to the presence of certain
reactors or molecular targets. These experiments are fully functional, meaning that we were able to see real-life processes that will be applied in future medical therapies (using other target molecules).
