The relationship between health and minerals has been explored by humankind since ancient times. In this talk, Professor Manuel Pozo Rodríguez will discuss the uses that have been made of them throughout history and how they have evolved to the present day, from their use as excipients and active ingredients in medicines to their use in health treatments at spas.
Manuel Pozo Rodríguez is a Professor of Geology at the Autonomous University of Madrid, where he works within the Geomaterials and Geological Processes Group. His research focuses on magnesian clays (mineralogy, sedimentology, and geochemistry), seismic processes and archaeoseismology, paleoenvironmental reconstruction of sedimentary and mineral deposits, and the use of minerals in human health. He has led numerous scientific projects and published extensively in specialized scientific journals, including several books.
