ALOVECIENCIA

How does it work the technology in space?

Talk: 27th March 2025, 19:00, Conference Hall/Library of Alovera.

This talk will be given by Miriam Pajas Sanz (Telecommunications Engineer, Polytechnic School of Alcalá de Henares), Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA).

Did you know that operating things in space is anything but trivial? Something that normally works on Earth, like your watch, pen, or cell phone, could fail in the hostile environment of space, where vacuum and radiation prevail.

This Thursday, you'll find out what the process is for ensuring that whatever is sent into space works flawlessly. You'll be surprised by the number of things that can go wrong if you don't take into account the conditions under which they will have to operate.

The day of the talk

Miriam at the begining of her talk.

Some experiments were prepared to demonstrate the effects of vacuum on relevant aspects such as temperature, pressure, etc... Since there was no time enough this day for performing the experiments, another Thursday was scheduled on the following week (see here).
